Program Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our Canberra practice as a Program and Project Advisory specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, risk management, business or IT.

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with a high-performing team, applying your expertise and passion for portfolio, program and project management assurance and advice.

You will deliver meaningful insights and pragmatic actions to drive real improvements in complex government digital transformation and policy implementation initiatives.

You will work closely with Federal Government clients, supporting the team with scoping, planning, and delivering major assurance engagements that shape the future of public sector delivery.

• Support the scoping, fieldwork and reporting of program and project assurance reviews. Assess overall delivery health and its delivery effectiveness, risk management, compliance, and maturity to help clients achieve successful outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with client teams to deliver real-time and meaningful insights with pragmatic recommendations. Drive continuous delivery improvements and alignment with strategic objectives.
• Generate insights that matter, using data analysis and clear reporting, tailored to diverse stakeholders.
• Contribute to project planning activities, including scope documents, workplans, and key project assurance artefacts.
• Apply BDO's assurance methodologies, tools, and templates to ensure rigorous, consistent and value-driven approach across all engagements.
• Champion BDO's values: One, Bold, Human, Strive, and Heart. Promote high standards across all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

• Tertiary degree in project management, risk management, business, or IT.
• Certification in project management methodologies (Agile, PMP, MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, etc.).
• Strong background and knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in program or project assurance, performance evaluation, and audit processes.
• A strong internal drive, growth mindset, and clear aspirations for leadership and professional development.
• Proven business development acumen, and natural ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Effective communication skills, working in a multi-disciplinary team, managing engagements, and delivering results.
