Fire Communications Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Communications Officer to join our team at the Queensland Fire Department. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities.
Key Responsibilities- Accept incoming emergency incident calls and enquiries, collecting relevant information and assessing risks associated with a situation.
- Dispatch and coordinate appropriate resources to calls for assistance, notifying other organisations as required.
- Maintain and update incident information in our computer-aided dispatch system, monitoring progress and supporting operational staff.
- Complete post-incident administration, providing information and reports to stations and other agencies.
- Monitor alarm signals and respond in accordance with our Communications Doctrine and Directives.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff, contributing to the improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures.
- Currently hold a valid Blue Card, with attached evidence of Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident Status.
- Have or be able to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
- Ability to successfully complete training programs, including the Communications Training and Professional Development Program.
- Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy, and ability to obtain Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates.
