Fire Communications Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fire Communications Officer to join our team at the Queensland Fire Department. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for receiving and responding to emergency calls, dispatching resources, and coordinating responses to emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and respond to emergency calls, gathering critical information and assessing risks associated with each situation
- Dispatch and coordinate resources, including fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency services, to respond to emergency situations
- Maintain and update incident information in our computer-aided dispatch system, monitoring progress and supporting operational staff until incidents are resolved
- Complete post-incident administration, including providing information and reports to stations and other agencies
- Monitor alarm signals and respond in accordance with our Communications Doctrine and Directives
- Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff members
- Contribute to the improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures
- Identify and report technical faults and liaise with our Specialist Operational Services Unit to maintain and update communications technology
- Currently hold a valid Blue Card, with attached evidence of Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident Status
- Have or be able to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)
- Ability to successfully complete training programs, including the Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP)
- Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy
- Have or be able to obtain Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates
