The Child and Family Practitioner position is a critical role in providing high-quality support and supervision to foster carers and children in care. As a key member of the Life Without Barriers team, you will work in partnership with government agencies, families, and stakeholders to develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize the protection and well-being of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- Child-Focused Casework Practice: Undertake case planning and assessment in partnership with government agencies, children, and their families, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Support and Supervision: Provide ongoing support and supervision to foster carers in relation to their caring for children and young people in their home, including telephone support and home visits.
- Case Planning and Implementation: Support and supervise foster carers in the case planning process, assist them to implement strategies outlined in the case plan, and ensure necessary risk assessments, cultural support plans, safety plans, and behavioral support plans are developed and implemented.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure all necessary documentation and information, such as carer renewals, foster care agreements, file notes, and other records, are kept up to date, including inputting information into the CIRTS database.
- A recognized degree qualification in Social Work or Psychology or a related field.
- Significant experience in the child protection and out-of-home care sector.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying an individual's strengths and areas for improvement within the context of providing foster and/or host care with an emphasis on permanency for children in care.
- Current driver's license.
