About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child and Family Practitioner to join our team in Toowoomba. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality support and supervision to foster carers, children, and young people in a family-based care arrangement.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with government agencies, carers, and stakeholders to develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize the protection and well-being of children and young people.

This is a full-time, 8-month maximum term position based in our Toowoomba office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake child-focused casework practice, including case planning and assessment, in partnership with government agencies, children, and their families.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to foster carers, including home visits and telephone support.
  • Support and supervise foster carers in the case planning process and assist them in implementing strategies outlined in the care plan.
  • Provide supervision and support to direct reports.
  • Ensure necessary risk assessments, cultural support plans, safety plans, and behavioral support plans are developed and implemented.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including carer renewals, foster care agreements, file notes, and records in the CIRTS database.
Requirements
  • A recognized degree qualification in Social Work or Psychology or a related field.
  • Significant experience in the child protection and out-of-home care sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement within the context of providing foster and/or host care.
  • Current driver's license.
