Aerial Transportation Operations Manager Job Description

The cable car in Far North Queensland is a critical piece of infrastructure for accessing a telecommunications and broadcast facility on the summit. The cableway provides access to the summit, which is officially Australia's wettest place and experiences extreme weather.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance of all aspects of the Cableway infrastructure, ensuring contiguous operations and maintaining asset condition to ensure safe facility operation.
  • Safety and wellbeing of passengers, directing them as appropriate during emergencies.
  • Operational duties, maintenance, fault investigation and repair of control and drive systems, equipment located at bottom station, top station and inside the Cable Car.
  • Cyclone preparation, assisting in track and haul ropes clamping prior to incoming cyclones.
  • Pre-operational checks completed prior to cableway operation.
Requirements:
  • Mechanical skills for maintenance works on various components.
  • Working knowledge of O&M Procedures and Work Instructions pertaining to operational use.
  • Rigging qualified with High Risk Licence in Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Rigging.
  • Comfortable working at heights, preferably holding Working at Heights/Tower Rescue and/or cable car evacuation certificate.
