About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team at Google, focusing on multilingual natural language processing for low-resource languages. As a key member of our research team, you will play a crucial role in developing multilingual Large Language Models (LLMs) and their application to translation and semantic understanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement algorithms for model training and prediction.
  • Manage experiments on Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) cloud infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the development of novel evaluation datasets and compile existing datasets for LLM training and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with research teams across Google to advance the state-of-the-art in multilingual NLP.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in NLP, NLU, Machine Learning, LLMs, or a related field.
  • Experience contributing to research communities through publications in top-tier conferences.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in JAX and PAX.
