About the Job

As a Disability Support Worker, you'll assist participants to achieve their NDIS goals through hands-on capacity building. You'll work with people with disabilities to enhance independent living and social skills, and provide advocacy support when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist participants in learning essential life skills
  • Support participants in making informed decisions about their lives
  • Encourage participants to grow as individuals and achieve their desired goals
  • Work with participants to identify goals and set action plans
  • Provide assistance with budgeting, money handling skills, and exploring legal responsibilities
  • Transport participants to relevant areas, including employment and appointments
  • Liaise with Disability Employment Support providers to work towards employment-based goals
Qualifications and Skills

Required qualifications include a Certificate III or above in Community Services & Individual Support or relevant experience. You'll also need a proven ability to build individuals' capacity to learn new skills, WWCC, NDISWC, a police check, and a full driver's license. Cantonese language skills are highly desired.

Essential skills include excellent verbal and written communication, advanced organisation skills, intermediate to advanced computer skills, patience, understanding, professional conflict resolution, and a thorough understanding of disability supports.
