About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our team at Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the payroll functions and processes for ARRCS 500+ employees.
  • Ensure the fortnightly pay runs efficiently with minimal errors and amendments.
  • Oversee compliance functions ensuring ARRCS complies with Australian Tax, Superannuation and Salary packaging / sacrifice requirements.
  • Provide evidence of prior experience in the transactional processing of payroll, ideally with 500+ staff members.
  • Hold a senior role within Payroll and have strong knowledge of processes and systems and compliance with ATO legislation.
  • Bring a strong background in the management of salary packaging / sacrifice and enjoy working within a busy and proactive team.
  • Have strong Payroll systems knowledge with preference to Aurion and be comfortable leading and supporting a part-time Payroll Officer.
  • Provide reports and data on payroll functions to senior leadership team within ARRCS.
Requirements
  • Experience with Aurion Payroll system (essential).
  • Minimum 1 years' experience in a supervisory position within the payroll function within a medium to large organisation (minimum of 2 years' experience in total working with payroll).
  • Demonstrated experience in the end to end payroll functions including computerised payroll systems.
  • Advanced understanding of payroll standards and legislation relevant to the work environment (including interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and industrial relations and taxation legislation).
  • Ability to maintain and develop policies, procedures and processes demonstrating best practice and contemporary knowledge of payroll practices, systems and customer requirements.
  • Ability to supervise a structured team environment.
  • Ability to apply planning, coordination and time management skills to projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work in a structured team and effectively contribute to outcomes.
  • Use of sound problem-solving skills and a logical, organised approach to work.
  • Advanced technology skills in the use of Microsoft products including advance MS Excel capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse large complex data sources with minimal corrections and effective use of analytic techniques.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Highly structured communication reasoning and stakeholder management skills including advanced listening, verbal and written skills and ability to communicate with non-financial managers.
