Job Title: Medical Secretary

A dedicated Medical Secretary is required to support our specialists, nursing staff, and patients in our fast-paced Day Oncology Hospital.

About the Role:

This permanent part-time position requires working 40 hours per fortnight, including Tuesday, Thursday evening (until 9pm), and Friday. The successful candidate will be a key member of our connected and talented team, delivering the best possible patient care.

  • Welcoming patients and collecting personal details
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
  • Setting up consulting rooms
  • Entering and processing patient billing (Private Health and Medicare)
  • Monitoring and assessing the administration care path of all patients
  • Maintaining and managing patient information
  • Supporting Icon's WHS Officers and committees
  • Modelling and promoting Icon's vision and values
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous healthcare administration experience (specialist rooms, day surgeries, hospital clerks, allied health admin)
  • Passion for patient care
  • Medical Specialist secretarial experience is highly advantageous
  • Experience with Medicare, DVA, and Private Health Insurance is favourable
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Competence in using computer systems, including Word and Excel
  • Commitment to delivering excellent client service
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is favourable
