Job Title: Senior Actuary Lead

We are seeking a visionary Senior Actuary Lead to drive the development of internal actuarial capabilities and transition from a fully outsourced model to a hybrid operating model.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury insurance or statutory schemes, with proven experience in building actuarial functions and leading cross-functional teams.

About this role
  • Design and implement a hybrid actuarial services model: Develop a comprehensive strategy for transitioning from a fully outsourced model to a hybrid operating model, including building an internal actuarial team that is equipped to provide strategic advice to senior leadership.
  • Establish and lead an internal actuarial team: Build a high-performing team with the skills and expertise needed to drive the agency's actuarial functions, providing expert guidance on scheme performance and risk.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership: Offer actionable insights derived from data analysis to ensure that the agency makes informed decisions.
  • Develop actuarial models: Create sophisticated models to support regulatory decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Mentor and uplift capability across the organisation: Share knowledge and expertise to enhance the skills and confidence of team members.
  • Lead reform initiatives: Drive meaningful change in workers' compensation and related schemes, improving outcomes for all stakeholders.
About you
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in personal injury insurance or statutory schemes.
  • Proven track record in building actuarial functions and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
