At the Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Legal Service, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Court Support Officer to join our team in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

We offer a competitive salary package, with an estimated annual salary of $65,000-$85,000 AUD depending on experience.

About Us

The Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Legal Service is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that delivers innovative, professional criminal, civil and family law services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout Queensland.

We are a 50-year-old organisation with over 300 staff members, including a specialist Through Care service to complement our legal services. Our mission is to provide justice and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and we are committed to making a positive impact in our communities.

Job Description

This role will provide administrative and clerical support to our Court Support Officers, assisting with court-related tasks such as file management, data entry, and client communication.

You will work closely with our team to provide exceptional client service, ensuring that our clients receive timely and effective support throughout the court process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing administrative support to Court Support Officers
  • Assisting with court-related tasks such as file management and data entry
  • Communicating with clients and stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of the criminal justice system and its processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desirable Criteria

  • Qualifications or current enrolment in applicable tertiary courses
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander-owned community organisation
