We are a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that delivers innovative, professional criminal, civil and family law services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout Queensland.

We have 300 staff including a specialist Through Care service to complement our legal services. Our offices provide a rewarding social justice environment for service delivery which is achieved through one-to-one in person, direct community visiting, at our offices and by phone and internet.

The role of the Human Resources Officer is located in Brisbane and offers an opportunity to work in a generalist HR position across the State, at both an operational and strategic level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide sound advice and generalist HR services to ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies;
  • Manage online recruitment, onboarding, and work attendance operations using contemporary technology in recruitment;
  • Collate reports from Excel data and utilise Outlook to complete short projects and multiple tasks in a policy-driven environment;
  • Support state-wide offices with offboarding processes;
  • Offer Employment Relations/Industrial Relations advice that is accurate and timely;
  • Maintain confidential private data and sensitive information relating to employees;

This role requires a demonstrated ability to keep confidential private data and sensitive information relating to employees. A National Police Certificate (Australia-wide Disclosable Criminal History) will be required.

Requirements:
  • A minimum three years' full-time experience in a professional services office environment and a Diploma in Human Resources (or equivalent four years' full-time work experience in a similar role);
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and working in a network accuracy is essential;
  • Ability to draft simple correspondence, collate reports from Excel data, download reports from online databases and utilise Outlook;
  • An appreciation of and sensitivity to the challenges our clients have faced, and continue to face, in their fight for and their right to justice and equity;
  • Familiarity with the operation of web-based recruitment and conferencing equipment;

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Officer who is able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

The salary range for this role is AU$70,000 - AU$90,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.
