Lead Research and Development Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Lead to join our team and drive the development of cutting-edge AI-powered features. As a key member of our research organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of world-class scientists and helping to shape the strategic direction of our research efforts.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that research translates into meaningful product capabilities. You will also be responsible for representing Canva in the global AI community through publications, talks, or open-source contributions.
To succeed in this role, you must have a strong track record of coaching and mentoring high-performing teams, as well as expert knowledge and experience with GANs, Diffusion Models, VAEs, and Autoregressive Models. You should also possess excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
