The Translational Research Institute (TRI) is a leading Australian innovative medical research, development and translation facility. It is home to a range of cutting-edge technologies including interventions to prevent and treat human diseases and provide diagnosis of early disease.
Supported by grants from the Australian and Queensland Governments, situated in the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) precinct, TRI combines the research intellect and capability of Queensland Health, The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and the Mater Research.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the Director of Clinical Trials is to provide outstanding people leadership with responsibility for facilitating clinical trial opportunities and ensuring the smooth running and sustainability of the CRF, TRIC facilities and the Translational Trials team as well as being at the forefront of driving new translational opportunities required by clinicians and researchers.
The Director of Clinical Trials is a member of the TRI Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and works closely with the CEO and ELT in strategic planning for the Executive and the Board as required. As a member of the ELT, the Director of Clinical Trials assists in leading the culture of the organisation. This position will report to the CEO of TRI.
This role is offered on a Maximum-Term Contract for up to 5 years. It will be Part - time 11.4 hours per week (0.3 FTE).
This position is open to engagement through a Secondment.

Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Mandatory – Registration in Australia (or the potential to be) as a health practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Mandatory – Employee of MSHHS. The successful candidate will be engaged through a service level agreement between TRI and MSHHS and will not be deemed to be, an employee of TRI.
- Research higher degree (or ongoing enrolment towards a research higher degree) is highly desired.
Experience
- Current clinical practice and an expectation this will continue on appointment.
- Established and significant research and clinical trials track record.
- Experience in clinical trial leadership (industry-sponsored and investigator -initiated) essential.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High level of integrity and professional accountability.
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in leading and contributing to high functioning multi-disciplinary health and research, and clinical trial teams.
