Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations. This key leadership role involves overseeing the delivery of effective and efficient payroll processes, including payment, disbursement, checking and reconciliation procedures.

This includes:

  • Preparing, balancing, and reconciling payroll data and related tax obligations;
  • Collaborating with the finance team on reconciling FBT, superannuation, and payment summaries;
  • Consolidating benefits with the P&C team and identifying process improvements;
  • Maintaining payroll information and records to statutory requirements and supporting internal/external audits related to payroll;
  • Leading the development and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring changes to payroll and tax legislation; managing risk, business continuity, and internal controls within payroll;
  • Providing strategic leadership for payroll systems, reporting, and process improvements; coaching and developing a high-performing payroll team;
  • Collaborating with the Head of People, Culture & Safety and the broader People & Culture team to drive continuous improvement across payroll systems and workflows;
Qualifications & Skills

This role requires a highly experienced Payroll Manager who can demonstrate:

  • A minimum 5 years' experience in payroll management, handling payroll for 1,000+ employees;
  • In-depth knowledge of general payroll practices, legislation, Modern Awards, Payroll tax, WorkCover, and related jurisdictions;
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in payroll calculations and processing;
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and priority-setting skills;
  • Advanced Excel and system reporting skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs;
