
Business Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple services in the defined geography, overseeing teams and managing performance. This includes direct reports and staff members, ensuring efficient operations and quality service delivery.
- Provide operational and strategic direction for contracts, guaranteeing timely completion within budgetary guidelines and meeting compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Service Delivery Support Teams) to ensure consistency, adherence to regulations, and continuous improvement across all services.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor operational budgets, providing regular performance reports and addressing underperformance promptly.
- Support senior leaders in contract negotiations and provide strategic insights on workforce capacity and service delivery capabilities.
- Drive workforce planning, recruitment, retention, succession planning, and professional development of frontline managers and service teams.
- Build relationships with local government, funding bodies, and community organizations to enhance Mission Australia's presence and advocate for client needs.
- Contribute to regional strategy aligned with national objectives; identify opportunities for growth and innovation across the service portfolio.
- Promote values-based leadership to foster a culture of openness, accountability, and high performance.
- Participate in regional committees and sector groups to represent Mission Australia and influence local service outcomes.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Management, Community Services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' management experience in the community services or not-for-profit sector, preferably overseeing medium-sized, geographically dispersed teams.
- Success in leading multiple programs and contracts in fast-paced, compliance-driven environments.
- Ability to deliver business outcomes on time and within budget while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Experience in people management, coaching, and developing frontline leaders through periods of change.
- Strong understanding of government contracting processes and legislative frameworks within the community sector.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and build strong collaborative relationships.
- Knowledge of financial and resource management processes, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Local and state-level knowledge of social issues impacting children, young people, and families.
- Capacity to observe, identify, and act on business opportunities and service gaps.
- Action-oriented and solution-focused leadership style with a commitment to Mission Australia's values.
