Climate Change Adaptation Specialist Role:

Climate change is exacerbating current risks and creating new ones. Australian farmers need to consider long-term trends in the climate when making decisions about infrastructure development, land suitability for certain crops or livestock, farm business succession, and adaptation of farming systems.

Australian farmers must adapt to climate change. Mitigation alone is not enough to stop the impacts of climate change from increasing.

The Climate Change Adaptation Specialist supports projects and activities that aim to have real impacts on the agriculture sector by raising awareness, knowledge, and skills of farmers and producers to build climate resilience and adapt to a changing climate.

Key Responsibilities:

  3. Collaborate with the team to develop strategies for climate resilience and adaptation
  4. Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines to support climate-resilient agriculture

Requirements:

  • APS 6 level of service delivery experience
  • Strong understanding of climate change impacts on agriculture
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
