Head of Learning and Teaching | Secondary

A senior educational leader is sought to spearhead the development and implementation of learning and teaching strategy in secondary years of schooling. This leadership role will inspire and enable a culture of high standards and expectations, drive academic progress, and foster continuous improvement through research and knowledge sharing.

The ideal candidate will have successful experience in a similar role, a positive attitude, collaborative approach, and pragmatic problem-solving skills. Experience in boarding as well as day school environments is desirable. They will be required to lead, manage, and develop direct reports and their teams, critically review approaches to learning, and inform the overall teacher professional learning and development priorities.

This permanent, full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual to take on a tenure of five years. The successful candidate will be engaged on a permanent basis in their teaching role, with this leadership opportunity available from January 2026.

About the Role:

  • Development and implementation of learning and teaching strategy in Secondary years of schooling
  • Cross-Campus alignment and strategy between Corio (Years 7-8, 10-12), Timbertop (Year 9), and Toorak (Year 7 (2027), Year 8 (2028) Campuses
  • Enable a culture of improved student outcomes through placing learning at the centre of strategic and operational planning on the campus
  • Effectively lead, manage and develop direct reports and their teams
  • Critically review approaches to learning and provide feedback to Heads of Faculty on contemporary practice and new research
  • Inform the overall Teacher PLD priorities and support the development and structuring of PLD opportunities and calendars
  • Manage the examination and assessment processes
  • Support the process of student subject selections, campus and exam timetable development and course and class allocations

About You:

  • Successful experience in a similar role

  • Experience in Boarding as well as Day school environments is preferable
  • Current VIT Registration
  • Well-developed IT and administration skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Capacity to build collaborative, positive and professional relationships
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • A proven capacity to initiate and facilitate effective change
  • Personal alignment to our School's Strategic Framework and Strategic Imperatives
