About the Job

We are seeking a highly driven Project Engineer to work on Marine Intake works for the Belmont Desal project in Newcastle NSW.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer looking to diversify their skillset and take on new challenges.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on infrastructure projects, particularly those involving water infrastructure and marine construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.
  • Undertake cost controlling, budgeting, forecasting, subcontract claim review, commercial negotiation activities.
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Area Manager.
  • Provide technical and other support to Supervisors and sub-contractors including liaison with consultants to ensure that safety, time, cost and quality objectives are optimised
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
  • Direct exposure to interfacing with client and working on a project through the lifecycle of planning, establishment delivery, commissioning and handover.
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
  • Establish and maintain an effective quality system to ensure that all records, test results and inspections required under the contract are obtained.
  • Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and delivery of various supplier packages.
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. Construction methods,design, engineering procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Project Engineer and operational experience.
  • Previous experience working on infrastructure project $100m+.
  • Experience in FRP construction including Temporary Works.
  • Previous experience in Water Infrastructure & Marine construction, highly desirable.
  • Project delivery and tender experience.
  • Ability to work well with various stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • A can-do attitude with a hands-on approach.
  • Effective team-player capabilities.
