About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Data Engineer to join our team at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. As a key member of our Engineering function, you will play a critical role in designing, creating, and managing cloud databases and ETL data pipelines that underpin our decoupled cloud architecture and API-first approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement databases and data models to support our cloud ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain scripts or ETL processes to ingest raw data from various sources, including JSON and XML files.
  • Transform raw JSON and XML data into structured formats such as CSV to write to databases.
  • Automate data ingestion and transformation processes using scheduling tools.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure reliability and performance.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in designing and implementing databases and data models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Ruby for developing data ingestion and transformation scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for writing, optimizing, and debugging queries.
  • Familiarity with database design, indexing, and normalization principles.
  • Understanding of data formats (JSON, CSV, XML) and techniques for converting between them.
