Job Summary

About the Role:

The primary responsibility of the Medical Officer is to protect the integrity of Medicare and the PBS through the administration of the Professional Review Program (PRP).

This includes reviewing health practitioners' Medicare servicing and PBS prescribing, identifying areas of concern and interacting with practitioners to discuss these issues.

The PRP aims to enhance compliance by reducing inappropriate practitioner rendering or initiating of services under Medicare and/or prescribing under the PBS.
