Cultural Liaison Officer
About the RoleThis position is responsible for providing support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and the school community through the sharing of cultural knowledge, language and history.
The successful applicant will act as a liaison between the community and the school, developing an education program that meets both educational and cultural needs.
- Provide mentorship and pastoral care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to ensure their participation and achievement in the school environment.
- Assist teachers in implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, with a strong focus on establishing positive working relationships with families and the local community.
It is essential for the successful applicant to have a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues, students and families.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights.
- Obtain a Working With Children Check prior to commencing employment.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit.
