About the Safety Coordinator Role

The Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support the implementation of a positive and accountable safety culture on our Sydney Metro West project.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for engaging with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure proactive engagement and compliance. You will also prepare presentation and training materials, reports, and provide specialist guidance to project leaders, site supervisors, and workers.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the project setup, creating necessary documentation and processes to plan for areas of work.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure proactive engagement and achieve compliance.
  • Prepare presentation and training materials, reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide specialist guidance, advocate for positive work health and safety change to project leaders, site supervisors, and workers.
  • Monitor and provide advice on compliance to support the effective implementation of WHS legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Advocate for the facilitation of work health and safety procedures and programs through mentoring and coaching staff.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety.
  • Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Well-developed people management skills to encourage staff to perform at optimum levels without compromising standards.
  • Proven experience working on Tier 1 projects, TBM tunnelling experience is highly advantageous.
