About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Fire Communications Officer - Emergency Response Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, responding to emergency situations and providing critical support to our firefighters and emergency services teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept incoming emergency calls and enquiries, collecting relevant information and assessing risks associated with a situation.
  • Dispatch and coordinate appropriate resources to emergency calls, notifying other organizations as required.
  • Maintain and update incident information in our computer-aided dispatch system, monitoring progress and supporting operational staff.
  • Complete post-incident administration, providing information and reports to stations and other agencies.
  • Monitor alarm signals and respond in accordance with our Communications Doctrine and Directives.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff, contributing to the improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures.
  • Identify systems and technical faults, liaising with our Specialist Operational Services Unit to report, maintain, and update communications technology.
Requirements
  • Currently hold a valid Blue Card, with attached evidence to support.
  • Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident Status.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
  • Ability to successfully complete our Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed level.
Desirable Requirements
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy.
  • Hold or be able to obtain Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates.
