Job Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Radiological Control department. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing radiological controls, environmental monitoring, and dosimetry programs within a Controlled Industrial Facility (CIF).

This role plays a critical part in establishing the workforce required to operate within Australian legislative and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing comprehensive radiological control measures, environmental monitoring, and dosimetry programs.
  • Managing the movement, transfer, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials and sources.
  • Developing operational plans, procedures, personnel allocation, and financial resource allocation for facility operations.
  • Evaluating staff qualifications and ensuring suitable experience for reporting roles.
  • Leading a small team of department heads within the Radiological Control department.
  • Providing consultation services to senior management on radiological control matters.
  • Directing and managing radiological response in the event of an incident.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in a nuclear or radiological discipline; postgraduate studies preferred.
  • 20+ years experience in a senior position within a nuclear industry, particularly in defence or power sectors.
  • Extensive experience in managing system safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of navy (submarines) or defence sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement effective interventions and high-quality solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to set clear organisational standards and guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex topics to the public.
