As a Capability Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in the acquisition of submarines that align with Australia's economic and national security goals.

The Role

You will work within the Portfolio Management and Planning Branch (PMPB) as an APS 6 Capability Analyst - Portfolio Controls and Analysis. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and coordinating strategic plans for capability development
  • Preparing timely and quality advice and issue papers for decision-making bodies
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders to drive business outcomes
  • Tailoring communication style and message according to the audience
  • Evaluating and analysing government submissions and capability proposals from a strategic context
  • Coordinating risk management documentation and administering training
  • Reviewing risk management practices and documents for compliance
  • Recommending approaches for risk identification, analysis, treatment and control
  • Designing solutions to issues affecting desired outcomes
Key Skills and Experience

We are looking for individuals with experience in capability development processes, including approvals to progress initiatives within Defence. You should have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships.

This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
