Key responsibilities for this strategic role include delivering policy, governance and management outcomes under broad direction. This involves working closely with key stakeholders in Navy, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and Finance, as well as within the NSS Group to deliver on key strategic priorities in support of the program of naval shipbuilding and sustainment.

A capability analyst will have a high level of strategic awareness and stakeholder engagement. They will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex issues. Key areas of focus for the team include:

Governance and Reporting

  • Developing cabinet submissions and reporting on achievements.
  • Managing commercial arrangements, including contracts and programs.

Strategic Management

  • Establishing continuous naval shipbuilding enablers as a program under the Defence capability program architecture.
  • Coordinating ministerial and parliamentary enquiries for the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group.
  • Strategic management of the internal and external narrative for naval shipbuilding and sustainment.

Data and Digital Strategy

  • Developing and delivering an overarching data and digital strategy for the maritime domain.
