Job Title

This is a permanent position as a Staff Specialist in Trauma Surgery at Westmead Hospital. The successful candidate will have specialist expertise in trauma surgery and be able to provide high-quality patient care.

The Department of Trauma Surgery has developed Westmead Hospital into one of the best performing major trauma centres in NSW. This is largely due to the dedicated, consultant-led model of care.

As a Staff Specialist, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system. You will also have the opportunity to participate in quality assurance activities and translate research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in trauma surgery demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Evidence of post-fellowship training completion in trauma surgery at a recognised major trauma centre.

Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment.
