Senior Research Fellow

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Research Fellow to join our team at Swinburne University of Technology and contribute to our emerging program of Space Materials, Coatings and Manufacturing. As a key member of our research team, you will develop and undertake applied research programs, including additive manufacturing, advanced lightweight materials, and surface coatings for space and other applied fields.
Working closely with industry partners, you will be responsible for developing and implementing research projects, collaborating with colleagues, and publishing high-quality research papers. You will also participate in activities that foster and build further on existing links with government, business, communities, and professions in Australia and internationally.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conducting research in material science, additive manufacturing, and materials testing, including substantial knowledge in areas relevant to the research project.
- Independently conducting major experiments and research programs, setting up complex or unusual equipment, and understanding relevant testing standards.
- Developing new test protocols, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with industry partners.
- Contributing to a strong research culture, including international collaboration, competitive grants, and high-quality publications.
Qualifications:
- An earned doctoral qualification in physics, materials engineering, or a related discipline.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body is preferred.
