About the Role

We are seeking a visionary leader to drive the strategic direction of our Hub for Apple Platform Innovation. As Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Apple-related education and research at RMIT.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading transformative education initiatives that bridge academia and industry. You will be responsible for guiding the development of industry-aligned courses, cultivating a thriving environment for research and research translation, and expanding strategic relationships with Apple and other industry partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish priorities aligned with RMIT's vision and set the strategic direction of the Hub.
  • Oversee the development of courses, minors or majors, and research initiatives focused on Apple technology, ensuring real-world application in learning.
  • Champion interdisciplinary projects, integrating students from STEM and other fields to innovate within the Apple ecosystem.
  • Build and nurture collaborative partnerships across the university and with industry leaders, leveraging Apple technologies across RMIT's educational offerings.
  • Coordinate the contributions of academics, mentors, and developers to the hub activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will meet the following key selection criteria:

  • An established academic career relevant to the activities of HAPI at Level D/E.
  • A clear, visionary approach to leading education initiatives that bridge academia and industry.
  • Demonstrated strengths in creating effective learning environments for a diverse range of students, including through project-based learning.
  • Significant professional standing/leadership experience in Apple design and/or development education.
  • Proven ability to foster relationships with industry partners, particularly with large technology companies like Apple, leading to impact.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, as well as demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and collegially to manage complex projects and engage multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with leading and managing teams, effectively coordinating the integration of resources, processes, systems, people, and policies.
  • Capacity to influence positive change within a complex organizational setting.
  • Extensive experience in supervising students and staff to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and reviewing strategic initiatives.
  • Qualifications: relevant postgraduate qualification and relevant industry experience, with membership of associations/accreditations applicable to the role.
