Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Control Director to lead and co-ordinate our Financial Reporting and Accounting teams at AIA Australia. The successful candidate will play a key role as part of the Finance and Actuarial management team and will be responsible for driving financial excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of Financial Reporting and Financial Accounting teams
  • Lead and develop the broader Financial Control Team
  • Meet and exceed Group Reporting and Financial Control Requirements & timeframes
  • Ensure all compliance obligations are fulfilled in relation to Group, Regulators and other statutory bodies
  • Build and maintain solid working relationships with peers in different AIA functions, departments and related businesses
  • Develop financial principles, procedures and practices in AIA Australia in line with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Coordinate appropriate reconciliations across the AIA and CMLA businesses
  • Be responsible for all accounting policies, whether AIA Group defined, or specific to AIA and CMLA Australia
  • Develop and implement, in consultation with staff, individual performance objectives and skills development vital to meet operational goals
  • Participate in special projects, detailed analysis of other ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities assigned by CFO or members of the Finance leadership team
Requirements
  • Experience working within a similar role within the insurance or financial services industry
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting or similar and member of CAANZ/CPA or equivalent
  • Strong financial control knowledge and experience
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and the ability to engage collaborators to understand business objectives
  • Experience report/paper writing for external publications and for presentation to the Board, ELT would be advantageous
  • A proven understanding of corporate and insurance tax issues
  • A strong understanding of commercial and operational business issues
  • Experience working at an Executive Management and Senior leadership level
