Job Overview

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of EL2 Director – Compliance Oversight in Canberra.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a strategic leader to take on a high-visibility, senior-level position within the organization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the ASD's oversight function, including advising the senior executive on complex and sensitive operational matters, cultivating and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and representing ASD at relevant internal and external meetings and activities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan and manage ASD's oversight function, including advising the senior executive on complex and sensitive operational matters;
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including external oversight bodies, and represent ASD at relevant internal and external meetings and activities;
  • Lead and manage a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people;
  • Support the senior executive through the provision of high quality written and verbal briefings, including regular submissions.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess strong strategic judgement, the ability to provide expert and timely advice, and excellent leadership skills. You will also need to have demonstrated ability to exercise professional initiative under broad strategic direction with little oversight, and manage a number of competing priorities.
