Public Sector People has partnered with a Local Council in Sydney to find a dedicated Human Resources Officer, to work on an exciting project for the next five months.

You will be responsible for undertaking recruitment and filling roles within the specific project. This role is vital in maintaining accurate employee records, managing onboarding and offboarding processes, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Accessing and reviewing various sources of HR-related information in order to maintain knowledge of contemporary Human Resource issues, legislative changes, and/or best practices.
  • Assisting in developing, reviewing, updating, and implementing Human Resource system documentation (e.g., policies, procedures, position descriptions) including Intranet and Internet content, and programs (e.g., Corporate Induction Program).
  • Processing correspondence and documentation in a timely manner, e.g., Employee Appointment Decisions, Advertising Requests, gratuity payments, certificates of service, confirmation of employment, maternity leave requests, exit letters, etc.

Essentials:

  • A relevant degree in Human Resources or a related field, and/or relevant experience in HR, recruitment/employee relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices and current issues.
  • Ideally, have experience within local government.
  • Ability to start immediately.

This is a fantastic opportunity within local government. The successful candidate can expect a salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
