Opportunity Overview
As a valued member of our respected National Ecology team, you will enhance Umwelt's reputation for ecological projects throughout Victoria and expand our service capacity in this area. We seek an experienced Ecological Project Development Specialist with broad experience in fieldwork, assessments, legislative knowledge, and strong reporting and project management skills.
Your Role
We are looking for an experienced Ecological Project Development Specialist who has the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, botany, zoology (or similar)
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Consulting and/or client/regulator side ecology experience
- Experience with Victorian biodiversity survey and assessment requirements
- DEECA Vegetation Quality Assessment (VQA) Habitat Hectares training and competency check is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in project managing medium and large-scale development and/or biodiversity offsetting projects
- Experienced in developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including clients, government agencies, and fellow team members
- Demonstrated experience in the collection and interpretation of ecological and spatial data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparing and reviewing reports, and ensuring final quality delivery
- Highly motivated with a strong team commitment
- Be willing to work flexible hours and travel for work
- Potential interest in team lead roles, with experience and/or enthusiasm for managing and developing a team of ecologists
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary based on skills and experience. Your annual salary will be approximately $80,000 - $120,000 AUD, depending on your qualifications and experience. In addition, we provide generous additional hours policy and working away from home benefits, as well as paid parental leave for both primary and secondary carers. You will also have opportunities to join the company's Employee Share Plan (ESP) and participate in our workplace culture of learning and personal development.
