Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Blood Collection Specialist at our Port Macquarie Donor Centre. As a specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our donors throughout their donation process, working collaboratively to achieve collection targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and interview potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability for donation
  • Conduct routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Prepare equipment, including setting up machines, tubing, and collection bags
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance to other team members during the blood collection process
  • Manage any adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist with rebooking for future donations
Requirements
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Familiarity with the blood donation process and relevant regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday
