Job Overview

As a strategic business leader, you will oversee the development and delivery of a profitable portfolio strategy across all markets within QBE Australia.

The role requires setting risk appetite and underwriting environment for the delivery of product profitability with growth.

A key focus area is providing technical leadership to the Product Committee, working with actuaries to plan, monitor, and understand performance, and representing the product in developing the annual business plan.

Daily tasks may involve:

  • Developing and delivering a profitable portfolio strategy;
  • Providing technical leadership to the Product Committee;
  • Working with actuaries to plan, monitor, and understand performance;
  • Representing the product in developing the annual business plan;
  • Managing internal stakeholders, including senior executives;
  • Being the ultimate referral point for complex underwriting activities;
  • Establishing and maintaining product underwriting standards, including risk management and risk acceptance criteria;
  • Overseeing internal and regulatory compliance for Commercial Motor products;
  • Representing QBE technically at industry forums;
  • Determining intent and operation of product wordings and related documents.

Requirements include extensive insurance experience ideally in an Underwriting/Portfolio Management role with a track record in Commercial Motor, including strong Fleet Motor experience. Additionally, advanced knowledge of risk management, portfolio management, and underwriting is required along with proven relationship-building, communication, negotiating, and influencing skills at a senior level within the insurance industry.
