Phlebotomy Specialist for Future Hospital Opportunities

Mater Pathology is currently seeking expressions of interest for future opportunities for Phlebotomists to service our Mater Hospitals and Community Collection Centres.
The primary duties of these roles will be to service the hospital across a 24/7 rotating roster and our Collection Centre hours. These roles will be required to work in a mixture of casual, part-time, and full-time capacities.
As a Mater Pathology Phlebotomist, you will provide high-quality customer service and care to patients through phlebotomy, specimen collection, and administration duties. You will also be responsible for managing specimens in the pre-analytical stage to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities- Collection of blood samples from adults, children, and infants, including collecting samples such as blood, urine, swabs, and skin.
- Providing advice to clients on any special requirements prior to test procedures.
- Registration of patients using the pre-analytical management system.
- Maintenance of equipment, consumables, and work areas in a clean, safe, and well-resourced state.
- Patient confidentiality maintenance.
- Delivering quality customer interactions by ensuring a professional appearance and polite manner.
- Promoting the philosophy of healthcare and values of Mater.
- Providing excellent patient care and commitment to customer service.
- Maintenance of quality of service as per ISO 17025 accreditation and AS/NZS ISO/9001:2000 standards.
To be considered suitable for this position, you must possess the following:
- Certificate III in Phlebotomy or equivalent relevant experience.
- A valid Blue Card.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to show empathy and understanding to patients.
- Good understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team environment.
