Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Referral Nurse to join our team in Townsville. As a Referral Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing anesthesia services to our surgery, medicine, imaging, and dermatology departments. You will work closely with our anesthesia team, including a veterinarian anesthetist and anesthesiologist, to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Anesthesia Veterinarian with patient assessments and formulate patient-specific anesthesia and pain management plans.
- Prepare anesthesia drugs and equipment as required for specific patient needs.
- Apply and manage monitoring equipment, collect and record patient physiological data, and assist with the induction process.
- Manage fluid therapy, assist with the stages and planes of anesthesia, and respond to adverse events during the recovery period.
- Review and complete post-operative pain management planning and anesthesia administration paperwork.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a veterinary nurse.
- Certificate IV in veterinary nursing.
- Desire to develop progressive practice and contribute to practice growth.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, as part of a cohesive team.
- Commitment to providing optimal patient care and supporting trainee nurses, veterinary students, and animal nurse assistants.
