TP Human Capital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Animal Care Specialist to join their veterinary team in Townsville. The successful candidate will assist in providing high-quality veterinary care, support clinic operations, and develop enrichment programs for animals in their care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in veterinary examinations, diagnostics, and surgeries, ensuring the highest level of animal welfare and safety.
- Administer medications and process cell and tissue samples, maintaining accurate records and adhering to legislative standards.
- Support the Veterinary Surgeon in performing various clinical procedures, including surgeries and diagnostics.
- Assist in the daily operations of the vet clinic, including record-keeping, scheduling, and inventory management, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
- Perform regular stock takes and manage ordering of drugs and consumables in line with budget requirements, promoting financial sustainability.
- Develop and provide enrichment programs tailored to individual animals' needs while in care, enhancing their well-being and quality of life.
- Monitor and report on the condition and behaviour of animals, ensuring their health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety policies and legislative requirements, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Follow directions for maintaining critical business activities during unplanned disruptions, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by supporting team efforts and sharing knowledge, promoting a culture of teamwork and open communication.
- Contribute to achieving the company's principles of community engagement and economic activation, making a positive impact on the community.
- Relevant qualifications in Veterinary Nursing or Animal Care, demonstrating a strong foundation in animal health and welfare.
- Experience in veterinary practice, including assistance in surgeries and diagnostics, showcasing clinical skills and proficiency.
- Knowledge of animal welfare legislation and best practices, ensuring compliance and adherence to industry standards.
- Full-time position with potential for occasional on-call duties, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills.
