Field Service Technician Job Overview

This role is a key position in ensuring the smooth operation of customers' equipment. The primary responsibility will be to provide prompt and efficient attention to customer needs, applying specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and complete repairs.

The ideal candidate will have an Apprentice Trained Engine Technician qualification or equivalent, along with intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products. Heavy Vehicle Experience is preferred, as is a valid Australian Drivers License.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Engaging customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Anticipating and ensuring prompt and efficient attention to customer needs
  • Applying specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and complete repairs
  • Performing preventative maintenance activities on engine and related components
  • Escalating unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor

A successful Field Service Technician will demonstrate strong technical skills, including knowledge of engine systems interactions, diagnostics application, electronic service tool application, product repair and maintenance, and service documentation. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will need to maintain service vehicles and tools for cleanliness and proper operation, ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation, and report any issues/incidents to site management and your supervisor.
