
Family Support Specialist

This role provides comprehensive case management support to families participating in the family preservation – positive intervention partnerships program.
A temporary, full-time position contracted until a mutually agreed-upon date.
The primary focus is on building resilience in families with identified risks due to multiple vulnerabilities, including domestic violence, substance misuse, mental illness, intellectual disability, and lack of parenting skills.
The objective is to work towards building a sustainable social structure for each family, maximising outcomes for children and young people, by linking with other community support programs.
Key Responsibilities:- To provide case management support to families participating in the family preservation program.
- To assess the needs of families and develop plans to address their specific challenges.
- To work collaboratively with other agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting families.
- To maintain accurate records and reports as required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early intervention programs and case management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to identify child protection concerns.
Requirements:- Degree qualifications in social work, social welfare, or a related discipline.
- Relevant high-level experience and capability.
- A demonstrated commitment to flexible hours and completion of formal training.
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to continuous learning and professional networks through coordination of meetings and information sharing activities. A sound understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory is highly desirable.
