Job Summary:

Mergent Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing, general service and repair work on various types of vehicles, and ensuring all work is consistently carried out to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform thorough diagnostic testing to accurately identify issues with diesel engines and related systems.
  • Service and Repair: Conduct general service and repair work on a variety of heavy vehicles, including engine rebuilds, clutches, and gearboxes.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work is consistently carried out to a high standard, meeting the expectations of our clients and the Mergent Group.
  • Communication: Complete job cards and report work status to our Head Technician, maintaining open and transparent communication throughout the process.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a tidy work area and properly store all tools and spare parts, adhering to our company's health and safety standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Handle other typical duties of a Diesel Mechanic, as required by the role.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Full Diesel Mechanic qualifications (minimum of Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology).
  • Experience: Experience with engine rebuilds, clutches, and gearboxes is highly advantageous.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the layout of European, American, and Japanese trucks, as well as relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license, with a reliable vehicle for transportation to and from work.
  • Time Management: Reliable punctuality and strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Medical Clearance: Must pass a pre-employment medical, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Industry Experience: Heavy industry experience is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of the industry and its challenges.
