Job Details

This is a field engineer position that requires operating geotechnical site investigation equipment safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop knowledge of site investigation practices and procedures
  • Build comprehension of soil mechanics and field investigations
  • Expand skill set through training and certifications to contribute meaningfully to the team
Equipment Operation
  • Operate CPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, DMT equipment, and other in-situ testing equipment safely and productively
  • Assist operators and engineers as required
  • Mobilize and demobilize equipment in hard-to-access environments
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance
Data Collection and Reporting
  • Collect data in a timely, orderly, and accurate manner
  • Compile collected data, sample logs, etc. daily and submit to the engineer/supervisor and/or client for further processing
  • Collect field notes and photos to guarantee accurate translation of data from the field to the office
  • Prepare and compile the final field report
Health and Safety
  • Embody our safety culture and respect our values
  • Prepare and know safe operating procedures before beginning any job
  • Report safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses immediately
Required Skills and Qualifications

Education: enrolled in an engineering/geology program or completed degree/diploma program. Experience: previous field experience is an asset. Proficient with basic computer skills and programs like Outlook, Excel, Word. Clean driver's license report.

Technical Skills: basic electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic skills are an asset but not required. Must perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling, and working long hours in all weather conditions.

Soft Skills: strong work ethic, represent the company professionally, establish effective working relationships, responsible, work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision, enjoy working outdoors and traveling for extended periods of time, manage multiple tasks and priorities.
