Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to optimize the closure phase of a major mine site, developing and implementing innovative waste stockpile grade characterization methodologies.

You will drive the development and implementation of the Bulk Material Movement (BMM) plan to construct the Final Landform across the disturbed mine site, rehabilitating pits, ponds, stockpiles, and other facilities.

The study will include an innovative stockpile modelling methodology in collaboration with specialist consultants and site-based mine planners, leveraging technical skills in multiple software environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the BMM plan
  • Coordinate all engineering activities for the defined area of responsibility throughout the project lifecycle
  • Engage and manage specialist technical contractors/consultants to clarify and optimize bulk material movement work package deliverables
  • Provide engineering and technical support to project Construction teams as required
  • Work closely with project planning and scheduling to develop and maintain project schedules
  • Assist in producing technical reports and project reviews complete with recommendations
  • Coordinate project finances to meet project requirements, including assisting with the development of operating and capital budgets
  • Plan and conduct independent Civil/Structural BMM work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of material movement techniques, procedures, and criteria on the project
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geospatial Science, or a related field
  • Project management experience to drive progress in the BMM workstream, underpinning a complex, integrated schedule of work and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to develop strong professional relationships with stakeholders
  • The ability to influence peers, leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure bulk material movement is optimized within competing priorities and evolving knowledge of technical challenges
  • Proficiency in Block modelling and Geospatial analysis to develop and validate high-resolution stockpile models
  • Strong experience using Maptek's Vulcan package
  • Undertake regular travel to ensure effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary collaboration across the studies team, providing expertise from relevant disciplines across the entire study scope
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to give confidence in the future closure strategy and drive a culture of collaboration and partnership
