Observability Leadership Opportunity

  • Take charge of a high-performing team of engineers responsible for platform observability.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for observability across the organization, encompassing logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of observability platforms and tools through hands-on expertise.
  • Cultivate a culture of best practices within development teams, providing education and resources to optimize observability adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering leaders and product teams to integrate observability into the software development lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in observability to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships, evaluate new solutions, and contribute to the overall architecture and design of the company's infrastructure.
  • Foster a learning environment, provide opportunities for growth, and nurture talent within the team.
  • Provide clear direction, set expectations, and offer constructive feedback to team members.
  • Lead team resourcing, recruitment, and retention efforts.
  • Resolve conflicts and mediate team issues effectively.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in software engineering management, specifically leading teams focused on observability, SRE, or platform engineering.
  • Strong technical foundation in observability principles, tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry), and best practices.
  • Experience building and managing distributed systems and cloud-native applications (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Expertise with agile development methodologies.
