Engineering Manager, AI Platform

Nine is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to spearhead its Observability platform. As the Engineering Manager for AI Platform, you will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team that drives innovation and reliability in our observability solutions.

  • Lead and Manage: Directly lead and manage a team of Observability engineers within Platform Engineering, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and accountability.
  • Strategy and Roadmap: Define and execute the strategy and roadmap for Observability across Nine, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving adoption of best practices.
  • Reliability and Scalability: Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of Observability platforms and tools, empowering engineering teams to make data-driven decisions.
  • Adoption and Education: Drive the adoption of Observability best practices and educate development teams on their effective use, promoting a culture of observability.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with other engineering managers and product teams to integrate Observability into the software development lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration and maximum value.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in software engineering management, leading teams focused on observability, SRE, or platform engineering.
  • Strong Technical Background: A strong technical background in observability principles, tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry), and best practices.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience building and managing distributed systems and cloud-native applications (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Communication Skills: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, driving business outcomes through clear communication.
