
Aboriginal Education Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as an Aboriginal Services Engagement Officer. This role will play a crucial part in promoting education and social inclusion for Aboriginal children, young people, and their families/carers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with stakeholders to provide advice on implementing strategies that support attendance, social and emotional wellbeing, and engagement and participation in learning of Aboriginal children, young people, and their families/carers.
Key Responsibilities- Contributing to partnership approaches with schools, preschools, and Student Support Services to implement proactive school and community education initiatives that support inclusion, learner engagement and achievement, social and emotional wellbeing, and participation of Aboriginal children, young people, and their families/carers and communities.
- Providing advice to site-based officers, leaders, and mentors to facilitate prompt and effective intervention and communication where there is a pattern of non-attendance.
- Evaluating and reporting on the effect and impact of programs and service delivery to respond to Aboriginal children and young people.
- Coordinating work in a team environment to negotiate resolution of issues and concerns and provide initiatives specifically for Aboriginal children and young people.
- Evaluation skills to develop strategies to improve attendance, social and emotional wellbeing, and engagement and participation in learning of Aboriginal children, young people, and their families/carers.
- Advocacy experience working with diverse range of Aboriginal community groups, Aboriginal families, and their children and young people, and Aboriginal service agencies.
- Cultural knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues facing Aboriginal families and communities.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting and creating safe and inclusive work environment, and legislative requirements of Equal Opportunity and Work Health and Safety legislation.
