Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant customs regulations and laws. This includes preparing and submitting customs documentation, liaising with government agencies and freight forwarders, and providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all customs-related matters.
  • Prepare and submit customs documentation, including import/export declarations, tariff classifications, and duty calculations.
  • Liaise with government agencies, freight forwarders, and ocean carriers to facilitate the clearance of goods in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on customs procedures, regulations, and requirements.
  • Monitor changes in customs legislation and policies and implement necessary updates to internal processes and procedures.
  • Resolve customs-related issues and discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to find effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of customs activities and transactions, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Customs Broker accreditation is essential.
  • Proven experience in customs clearance and compliance within the retail or logistics industry.
  • Sound knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex customs documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant customs software and systems (Cargowise preferred).

$65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience. Salary estimates may vary based on location and other factors.
