Senior Lawyer Role Overview

 

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Lawyer to join our team in providing expert legal advice and support on commercial property and leasing matters.

 

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the field, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in complex lease negotiations, due diligence reviews, and strategic advice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake thorough reviews and drafting of heads of agreement, leases, agreements for leases, licences, subleases, renewals, surrenders, and assignments of leases.
  • Conduct meticulous due diligence lease reviews for mergers and acquisitions transactions and analyze lease portfolios for assignments of lease and change of control provisions for company restructures.
  • Provide authoritative advice on retail lease legislation and broader property laws.
  • Represent both tenant and landlord clients effectively, ensuring their interests are safeguarded.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines for disputes and acquisitions and disposals involving leasing components.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, including running advice consults over video calls and providing clear, technical guidance.
  • Assist in complex lease negotiations.
  • Manage client leasing portfolios and offer strategic counsel.
  • Leverage the PEXA platform effectively.
  • Stay abreast of changes in legislation and market practice to provide proactive guidance.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to team development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain lease precedents.

 

Requirements:

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial property and leasing within a reputable firm or in-house legal team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work productively.
  • A collaborative and adaptable nature.
  • A strong service orientation and optimistic attitude.

 

Skillset and Qualifications

 

In this role, you will need:

  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of property law.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with PEXA and other relevant technology platforms.
